From the desk of the Chief Administrative Officer

Workshop Projects Organisation was established in the year 2002 to set up world-class Production Units and Workshops for Indian Railways. Establishing world-class production units/ workshops equipped with state-of-the-art technology in a time-bound manner is a challenge in itself which requires an integrated approach.

In a very short period, Workshop Projects Organisation has emerged as one of the vibrant units in the Indian Railways. We have established an excellent reputation for our services to the IR by adopting a holistic approach to Project Management and I am glad that Workshop Projects Organisation has completed & closed the Carriage Repair Workshop, Harnaut project and handed it over to ECR. Rail Wheel Plant, Bela has also started its production. The successful execution of these two projects has earned laurels for our Organisation. Seven more projects namely, Wagon Repair Workshop, Badnera (Maharashtra), Carriage Midlife Rehabilitation Workshop, Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Matunga Workshop– Facilities for augmentation of bogie POH capacity and other allied works (Maharashtra), Bhagalpur- Augmentation of coaching infrastructure facilities for LHB coaches (Bihar), Gorakhpur- Facilities for periodic overhauling maintenance of LHB coaches (U.P.), Harnaut (Carriage Repair Workshop) - Developing infrastructure for POH wheelset for LHB coaches (Bihar) and Tirupati - Augmentation of periodic overhauling facilities for Linke Hofmann Busch coaches (Andhra Pradesh) are currently with Workshop Projects Organisation.

We all know that every good government organisation flourishes on public participation and awareness. For good reasons, different strata of society look for basic information about what the organisation is, what it is meant for, its achievements, and the direction in which it is moving. I hope that this website would serve this purpose to a great extent.

I am sure that with the patronage of the Railway Board, and with the dedication of our projects team, we will come up to the expectations of our valued customers. My entire team and I will always be at the service of IR, and the people of this great nation.
